Youth Center
Objective
The underlying objective of this Youth Center is to provide a safe and positive environment for the youth in our community. Towards that goal, we are gearing up to provide a variety of services and activities to promote and reinforce positive peer pressure.
Education
This will be a major focus. A computer room will be utilized as a place where young people will be able to complete their homework. Futher, those who have been expelled from public school will be given the opportunity to complete formal schooling by working with an online or homeschool curriculum. Assistance will also be provided to students who are on short-term suspension, helping them with make-up work.
After school program
This program will be for middle school and high school students. The emphasis will be on completing homework while providing a positive recreational time and creative art possibilities.
GET IT (Gangs Intervention and Transformation In Teen) Program
This program will be structured to help reduce gang involvement in schools and in the community. We will be offering gang awareness programs to community members by partnering with our local law enforcement agencies, county jails, and correctional facilites.
Teen Pregnancy Support
This program will focus on providing services to pregnant teens and their families by providing a support system, assisting them to meet their basic needs, and also include help with doctor’s appointments, counseling, education, and parenting classes.
Anger Management/Substance Abuse
We will partner with local agencies to provide anger management and substance abuse programs.
Youth Worship Services
A Saturday night gathering for young people is planned to include middle school and high school age groups in an effort to provide a positive worship experience. Our vision is to work closely with local churches in order to provide unity in worship and to place emphasize on encouraging local youth worship bands to help lead the service.
Fellowship Area Community Events
Our facility will be open to the community on the weekends as a venue for community sponsored events.
